Roger Dale Brown, OPA
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee Roger has traveled and studied in many places across the United States. His travels, combined with his love of history, nature and architecture, inspire his oil paintings. Brown is an avid plein air painter who spends countless hours every year painting the dramatic sights and scenery across America. He is also known for his evocative figurative and still life works.
Brown has studied with accomplished artists Dawn Whitelaw, Scott Christensen and Everett Raymond Kinstler. Additionally, he finds inspiration in the writing and works of Edgar Payne, John F. Carlson and Andrew Wyeth. Brown actively participates in professional art organizations including The National Arts Club, Plein Air Painters of the Southeast, Cumberland Society of Painters and Oil Painters of America, of which he is a signature member.
Fine art galleries throughout the United States have displayed his works, and many of his paintings have won awards in prestigious exhibitions. Honors include the Gold Medal of Honor for the Hudson Valley Art Association and Best of Show for the 39th Annual Central South Juried Art Exhibit.
Articles featuring Brown and his paintings have been published in major art magazines such as American Artist, American Art Collector and The Artist Magazine. He has also written chapters in instructional art books published by International Artist. Brown has donated paintings for select charity fundraisers, and private collectors including major corporations and well-known celebrities have acquired his works.
